In an effort to share some thoughts about our profession we asked our team at PRIME a few questions about marketing and design and collected their answers. Our team ranges from experts on marketing strategy to graphic designers, so each answer is different. We thought this would be an interesting way to share different perspectives on a variety of topics.
These are the responses.
question: what are some of your favorite blogs and why do you follow them?
JASON JOHNSON ANSWERS:
HubSpot Agency - It has great content about inbound marketing and obviously has a slant toward HubSpot, but there are also plenty of other marketing and agency related topics ranging from finances to HR.
AFAR - I like to see where I should be traveling sometime sooner than later, although the Maldives may be a little more “later” than “sooner.”
GREGG ALEXANDER ANSWERS:
I’m a digital marketing nerd, so I really get a lot of insightful tips and ideas from a guy named Jeff Bullas (jeffbullas.com). He covers a lot of digital marketing topics from content marketing, to social media, to digital videos, to branding. If you are looking to improve your own digital marketing presence, follow Jeff on Twitter and read his blogs.
BEN FJARE ANSWERS:
I'm not a big blog guy... I follow a handful of awesome people on Twitter that keep me engaged with tons of great articles, the only blogs I check daily are ones that make me laugh. Even good informative blogs, in my opinion, have a lot of fluff.
LENA HAINES ANSWERS:
Uuhhhhhh. I read Apartment Therapy a lot. Probably because I need therapy of the apartment kind. I like looking at different design solutions and how other people live, all over the world. Sorry, it's not marketing, but it counts because it's in the design realm right?
ALEXA AUDET ANSWERS:
If I read blogs at all, they are solely meant to fulfill my need for juicy celeb gossip. When I am researching for a project, I might venture into a few design blogs but there are really none that I follow on a regular basis.
SHANE NIEDERKLEIN ANSWERS:
I don't really read blogs on a regular basis, but follow a lot of people on Instagram, I feel it's a way more powerful way to tell a story than a blog. Everyone has a camera/video camera in their pocket these days. Also, most people have very short attention spans, thanks to their smartphones, so it's better to get their attention with a powerful photo or video. Today's world revolves around your smartphone and everyone wants their content quick.
JUSTIN BROWN ANSWERS:
While I don’t follow blogs, I do actively follow Gary Vaynerchuk’s Vlog via YouTube. He is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and owner of Vayner Media which is a large marketing agency. He is extremely transparent and willing to help others but in a very blunt and straightforward manner.
