5 Things to Consider When Revamping Your Credit Union Website

Credit union website redesign

Technology is constantly changing; this is common knowledge by now. But what does this vague idiom mean for your credit union website? It's no longer enough to set it and forget it, so to speak. Your customers require constant attention, and the way to give them that is through an updated website. It's best to stay on top of technology, and while this doesn't necessarily mean changing the look of your site every week, it does mean you that you need to stay on top of it. Ask yourself, when was the last time we had an update to our credit union website?

Fresh Look

You'll need to be careful, but this is one of the major and most obvious reasons to update your sites look. It's not necessary to innovate web design or copy a trendy look from a hot fashion blog, but if the look of your site is up to date, it will help the credibility of your financial institution. If an economic leader or financial expert showed up to a television interview wearing a crushed velvet leisure suit or a bright orange miniskirt they'd look like a joke. It works the same way with websites. A tasteful but modern design instills trust in your organization.

Updated Info

Things change, and your customers deserve to know what's happening. It could be as small as letting people know about holiday hours, an organizational change, or a new product. People today get information from social media, and if you can keep your credit union website up to date and linked to your social media presence, your customers will be engaged in your institution. An engaged customer is a happy customer, and there's no better way to separate your customers from your vision than with outdated information.

Easier for users

Speaking of users, your users come from all different backgrounds. There are ways to design your website that can make it user-friendly for both the young and tech savvy and the less tech savvy well traveled and wise. It's important to not isolate any demographic of your customers, and that can start with your credit union website. An updated design will welcome all users, with simplicity in the design and complexity in the execution.

More Security

It goes without saying that security should be the number one priority of financial institutions. After all, if you can't protect the customer's money, why should they stay with you? Updating your credit union website can provide crucial security boosts that will protect your assets and ensure customer confidence in your institution. That confidence is what you work for, and it's what makes your credit union a success, so there's no reason to compromise it for the sake of an old website.

Integrate New Tech

The thread that runs through all reasons to update a credit union website is change. Everything changes, it's not the 1980s anymore. If we don't, or won't, keep up with those changes we'll cease to be effective in the world of finance. There's an innovation every day and keeping up with these can put your financial institution on the precipice of greatness. An updated website is the perfect opportunity to integrate new technology into your system. This not only allows your current customers the best experience possible but it also has the potential to bring in new customers who are impressed by your savvy and keep them for a lifetime.

A website may seem utilitarian, or like a minor part of your financial institution's marketing. But make no mistake, your credit union website is the face of your institution in a crowded field. You wouldn't hire someone who came to a job interview in flip-flops, and you wouldn't take someone seriously if they were at a conference dressed like they were ready for the garage. So why would you represent yourself with an outdated website, old technology, or an out of touch interface?
